If you are unsure of your voter registration status, visit mvp.sos.ga.gov. Here, you can check your official voter registration record to determine if you need to re-register or just update your registration.

If you have a Georgia Driver's License or a state ID card, you can register to vote online. You can also register to vote in person at a public library, a DDS (Department of Driver Services), and any County Elections Office. Or, you can fill out this form and follow the included instructions to register via mail.

Absentee voting

To vote by absentee ballot, you must first submit an absentee ballot application. You can request an absentee ballot by submitting an application online, by email, by mail, by fax, or in person.

Once you’ve received your ballot in the mail, you have a few options for turning it in.

  • Mail your ballot back using the pre-addressed envelope

  • Return your ballot to a dropbox located inside early voting locations within the county you’re registered to vote

To verify that your ballot was accepted, visit the Georgia My Voter Page. Log in and look for the section labeled “Absentee Ballot Request Information” to learn more about your absentee ballot status.

If you requested your absentee ballot and it never arrived, you can still vote early or in person on Election Day. Let the poll worker know that you lost or never received your absentee ballot and they will cancel your mailed ballot. If you decide you want to vote in person instead of voting absentee, bring your absentee ballot with you to any early voting site or on Election can and request to have it spoiled. If you request AND RETURN an absentee ballot, you cannot change your mind and vote in person.

Early Voting

You can vote early at any of the early voting locations within the county in which you are registered to vote. See HERE for a list of early voting locations, dates, and hours in Gwinnett County and HERE for a list of early voting locations, dates and hours in Barrow County.

All you need to bring is a photo ID. Acceptable forms of photo ID include:

  • Any valid state or federal government-issued photo ID, including a free ID card issued by your county registrar's office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services.

  • A Georgia driver's license, even if expired

  • Student ID from a Georgia public College or University

  • Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state

  • Valid U.S. passport ID

  • Valid U.S. military photo ID containing a photograph of the voter

  • Valid tribal photo ID containing a photograph of the voter

If you are 75 years or older or have a disability, you can ask a poll worker to move you to the front of the line. Parents are allowed to bring their children with them into the voting booth. You are allowed to bring someone to assist you with casting your vote if you are unable to sign your name, see or mark the ballot, operate the voting equipment, or enter the voting booth without assistance.

You are not allowed to use your phone in the voting booth. If you want to bring information with you to reference when voting, you can print out a sample ballot beforehand and use that when voting. Find your sample ballot here.
